NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
PUBLIC INPUT ON THE CREATION OF A RESIDENTIAL HOUSING DISTRICT PERSUANT TO MICHIGAN PA 237

 

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: That on Monday, September 11, 6:00pm Local Time, a public hearing will be held by the Niles City Council, at Council Chambers, 1354 E Main Street, Niles, Michigan, 49120.  Any interested person or group may address the Niles City Council on a request for establishing a Residential Housing District near Fort Street, Niles, MI 49120 when recognized by the presiding officer. The comment of any member of the public or any special interest group may be limited in time. Such limitation shall not be less than three minutes unless otherwise explained by the presiding officer, subject to appeal by the Niles City Council. 

The proposed boundaries of the district are available for public inspection upon request by contacting Niles Community Development Office, by telephone at 269-683-4700 Ext 3020 or by email at CommunityDevelopment@nilesmi.org.  The proposed boundaries can also be viewed below.

All lots are currently zoned Moderate Density Residential. The proposed district would be established to facilitate a Residential Facilities Tax Exemption for the applicant in order to develop a 48-unit apartment building. 

The City of Niles will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services to those individuals with impairments who wish to attend its public meetings upon receiving at least one week's notice.
