2021 Michigan Clean Sweep Pesticide Collection Program for Berrien, Cass & Van Buren Counties

Michigan Clean Sweep is a free, safe disposal option for unwanted agriculture pesticides. The Clean Sweep Pesticide collections for the Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren Michigan Clean Sweep Days: Wednesday, June 23 and Wednesday, July 28, 2021.

Clean Sweep is open to all Michigan farmers, greenhouses, golf courses, pesticide retailers, and individuals. Accepted items are pesticides which include all the classes of “cides” – fungicides, herbicides, insecticides, and rodenticides. Fertilizers are NOT accepted as part of Clean Sweep unless they are a component of a pesticide formulation. 
 
Participants must register at least two weeks prior to the event. The registration process is simple and designed to help organizers be prepared for incoming materials. A registration form can be obtained at www.berriencounty.org/465/Clean-Sweep-Pesticide-Collections, or contact the Berrien County Parks Department at 269-983-7111 x8234 or email recycle@berriencounty.org. Registration forms are also available through Conservation District and MSU-Extension offices.
 
After registration, participants will be given a general drop off time and directions to the collection event. The event takes place on the Berrien County Road Department property in Benton Harbor. 
 
Over 266,500 pounds of pesticides have been collected and disposed safely through the Berrien County site since it began. This state-wide grant program is administered by the Michigan Department of Ag and Rural Development and funds waste pesticide collection sites throughout Michigan.
